Hi friends! Feeling good about myself is something I’ve worked toward for a while. And it makes a big difference to feel good in your own skin! So, I put together these 6 ways to feel more comfortable in your own skin for you. Let’s get into it!
#1 Work on Self Improvement
#2 Let Go of Perfectionism
#3 Do Things Even if You’re Unsure
#4 Fall in Love with Your Strengths
#5 Embrace Your Weaknesses
#6 Talk Nicely to Yourself
To start off, it actually wasn’t too long ago that I felt really uncomfortable in my own skin. Honestly, I never imagined that I could actually feel good about who I am. But it’s totally possible if you work at it!
And after applying these 6 things, I feel sooo much better about myself than I ever have before. So, read on if you’re looking to feel more comfortable in your own skin too!
One of the best ways to improve how you feel about yourself is to start looking inward. If you can examine the things that make you feel uncomfortable about yourself, you can start working on those issues.
And there are so many ways to do this! For instance, you can start meditating, journaling, see a therapist or talk to a friend.
Another way to start feeling better in your own skin is to stop trying to be perfect. I know, I know, this one can be hard. Believe me, this is something I’ve had to overcome too.
I wrote a blog post about how to do this here.
Because guess what? When you’re being a perfectionist, you’re actually trying to please other people by doing things overly well.
Also, perfectionism isn’t about actually enjoying what you’re doing – it’s about what other people think of you.
So, learning to let go of perfectionism will help you enjoy yourself and feel more comfortable in your own skin.
The next way to feel more comfortable with yourself is to do things even if you’re not 100% sure how to.
Honestly, everyone has fears but no one has it all figured out. So, if you hold back until you feel fully ready to do something, it doesn’t help your self-esteem.
On the other hand, when you take action and do things even if you’re not sure, you’ll start building your confidence and feel better about yourself.
So, go after your goals even if you’re not fully sure how to do it!
Another way to feel better in your own skin is to focus on your best qualities. If you’re honest with yourself, you probably know that there are some really great qualities that you have!
If you don’t feel great about yourself, it might be because you’re seeing yourself in a negative light. But if you work to start seeing all the good things you have to offer, you can start feeling better in your own skin.
While it can be very easy to try and shove your weaknesses away, they’re actually an important part of who you are.
Yes, it’s true. Your weaknesses are a part of YOU. And who you are matters and is important. So, if you think about it, you can’t be who you are without everything that makes you up. And your weaknesses are a part of that.
Honestly, we all have weaknesses. But you don’t need to let your weaknesses hold you back.
So, if you can embrace your weaknesses without letting them stop you, you’ll start feeling more comfortable in your own skin.
Finally, the way you talk to yourself has a big impact on how comfortable you feel in your own skin.
I wrote an entire blog post on how to talk nicer to yourself here.
Your inner voice actually has two sides: an inner critic and an inner motivator.
So, if your inner critic is too loud or mean, you won’t be able to hear the voice of your inner motivator as well.
By speaking more positively and kinder to yourself, you’ll learn to soften that critic and strengthen your inner motivator.
When you’re gentler with yourself, you’ll naturally feel much better in your own skin.
Feeling comfortable in your own skin is more attainable than you might think. If you work toward feeling better about yourself, you’ll gradually feel better and better being you. And the world totally needs you!
