To start off, I want to share with you how excited I am to share this ebook with you! Since it’s the very first one I’ve ever done, I feel a big sense of accomplishment.
Also, I’m so happy to share this information with you, which is the whole reason I created it!
If you’ve been following along, then you know that my emotions haven’t always been a strength for me. In fact, I saw them as a huge weakness. Honestly, I wished I never felt anything because I never understood how to interpret my emotions.
Here’s a bit of my personal story with emotions.
Since I grew up Mormon, I definitely learned that emotions were scary, that they were evil and sinful.
If you’ve ever seen Book of Mormon the Musical, you might remember a song called “Turn It Off.” You can watch the video above to hear it.
Honestly, I wish this song was an exaggeration. But it’s really not. That’s truly how it was. In the song, you see how Mormons love to just turn their emotions off.
And that’s basically how I learned to cope with my emotions.
…but that didn’t work for very long.
When I was 19, I became massively depressed and was in a dark hole of hopelessness.
So I decided to look into why I felt so horrible.
As soon as I started learning about processing my emotions, I became hooked! Since our emotions are a part of our basic human functioning, I’ve found that they hold so much wisdom.
After years of learning to tune into my emotions, I’ve picked up a lot of tools to take care of my emotional self. And I want to share them with you today!
So, this guide is designed to help you take care of your emotional hygiene. Just like our physical bodies require showers and regular care, so do our emotions.
When you regularly process your emotions, you’re improving your emotional hygiene. This helps you stay balanced and healthy in every other aspect of your life.
